The Louvre has hundreds, if not thousands of statues, some by famous artists and some by obscure or even forgotten artists. Some statues are thousands of years old, and some, maybe hundreds of years old.
The majority of these are by French artists.

Winged Victory of Samothrace was found on an island in the Aegean Sea. It is believed to have been created by the Greeks during the 2nd or 3rd century B.C. It was discovered broken and scattered in 118 pieces in 1863 and reassembled at the Louvre.
